Lake Elsinore is on OK MAP for more than a century of lake-monster folklore. A 1934 Los Angeles Times report described rancher C. B. Greenstreet claiming that he, his wife and children saw a huge creature moving across the lake, while the newspaper noted earlier local reports. The creature later became known as Elsie.
